Job Summary:
The Multi-Skilled Technician Assistant supports technical operations by assisting with a variety of tasks, such as maintenance, installation, troubleshooting, and repairs across multiple systems and equipment. This role requires proficiency in a wide range of technical disciplines, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to adapt quickly to new tasks and technologies.
Candidate must be based in Oranjemund and must have a driving license. (Own Accommodation)
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in Maintenance & Repairs:
Support technicians with regular maintenance tasks, troubleshooting, and repairs on various equipment and systems (e.g., electrical, security, audio / video & IT systems).
Installation Support:
Assist in the installation and setup of new equipment or systems, ensuring proper configuration and functionality.
Technical Support:
Provide technical assistance to senior technicians by identifying problems, conducting tests, and performing minor repairs or adjustments.
Inventory Management:
Maintain and organize inventory of tools, equipment, and spare parts, ensuring materials are readily available for ongoing projects.
System Inspections:
Conduct routine inspections of equipment or systems to identify potential issues and help prepare them for operational use.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed, as well as any issues encountered. Report on status updates and progress to senior technicians or managers.
Health and Safety Compliance:
Ensure adherence to safety guidelines and regulations when performing tasks, handling equipment, and interacting with systems.
Collaboration:
Work closely with other technicians, and team members to ensure projects are completed on time and within specifications.
Customer Interaction:
In some settings, interact with customers to explain technical issues and assist in providing solutions or product information.
Skills and Qualifications:
Technical Expertise:
Knowledge in a variety of technical disciplines, including electrical, IT, or specific industry-related systems (depending on the job).
Problem-Solving Abilities:
Strong troubleshooting skills to identify issues and resolve them quickly.
Communication Skills:
Ability to communicate technical issues effectively to both technical and non-technical individuals.
Adaptability:
Comfortable working in a dynamic environment and quickly learning new skills and technologies.

Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in technical environments.

Educational Requirements:
High School Diploma/GED
Experience:
Previous Experience:
Previous experience in a technical role, either in an assistant capacity or similar role, is often preferred but not always necessary.
Hands-on Skills:
Practical knowledge of handling tools, equipment, and performing maintenance tasks in relevant fields (e.g., electrical & technical).

Typically works in a workshop, mining or field settings, depending on the industry.
Physical Requirements:
May involve lifting heavy equipment, working in confined spaces, working on heights and being exposed to noise or various environmental conditions.
